Helen graduated in Dutch, French and German from Cambridge University in 1981 and began a
career in the City of London with BNP plc, marketing bank services to corporate and private
customers in the UK.
In 1990 she took over responsibility for the family office automation business at the same time
as setting up a financial translation and interpreting company serving corporate clients in France
and the Netherlands. She added to her language skills by obtaining a Spanish degree-level
qualification from the Cervantes Institute in London. She developed a translation specialism in
banking, finance, corporate governance, and pension funds.
That work continues today, but Helen is increasingly involved in the protection of rights of
investors and shareholders as a director of the United Kingdom Shareholders’ Association
(UKSA) and as a board member of Better Finance in Brussels. Helen’s activities include
educating the public on equity investment and shareholder rights as a co-organizer of courses
delivered in Brighton, UK.
Helen’s leisure pursuits are centered on travel in Europe, the US, and Argentina and on food,
especially Spanish regional cuisine.
